在全球化、互联网的时代，人类正以前所未有的速度获取信息、交换信息、最大程度的拓展之于既定世界认知和理解的维度。固有的惯性思维、观念正在发生新的变化。作为社会、历史、文化的精神表征，艺术也不可避免卷入其中。与艺术有关的许多新问题，也展现在我们面前。
那么，当下的艺术创作及其解读方式发生了何种变化？以当代的视角追溯艺术的本源，如何回望传统？又如何面对未来？艺术的边界、语言的拓展、观念的取舍、哲学的思辨，如何在当代语境下解构与重构具有独立意志的绘画语言？很多问题需要我们深思。
本次展览，我们邀请到四位具有代表性的中国当代艺术家，通过水墨、拼贴、版画、装置等不同类型的作品呈现。希望通过本次展览触摸到中国当代艺术的脉搏，梳理艺术家及其作品在当代语境中的学术价值。这四位艺术家的作品风格迥异、自成体系，但他们又不约而同的探索着传统文化与当代语境的关系。在启发与引导的同时，希望带给观众新的审美体验与思考空间。
In the time of globalization and Internet, humans get and exchange information, and broaden our cognition of the world with an unprecedented speed. Inertia way of thinking and concepts innate in our minds is undergoing fundamental changes. Art, as the spiritual symbol of society, history and civilization that humans are born with, is inevitably involved in it. We are avoidably confronted with many new questions related to art.
So, what kind of change has happened to the artistic creations at present and to the way of comprehending it? How to retrospect traditions – to review the origin of art with a contemporary angle of view? How to confront the future? How do boundary of art, language expansion, conceptual sublation and philosophical speculation deconstruct and reconstruct the painting languages that embody independent wills in the contemporary context? Lots of questions deserve our careful pondering.
This exhibition is born from this, and we have invited four representative Chinese contemporary artists to present their works of art in different forms such as ink painting, collage, woodcut and installation, in a hope of feeling the pulse of Chinese contemporary art and figuring out the academic value of the artists and their creations in the contemporary context. These four artists are not in the least alike in style but create a system of their own. Despite that, they tally by coincidence to figure out the way of presenting broad and profound traditional culture with contemporary appearance, hoping to leave the audience with enjoyment of beauty together with inspiration and thinking.
