倪卫华在九十年代初以社会为实验田捕捉场域运作的隐形机制,并将这种机制“现成品化”来充当艺术实践的素材。其中,1992年的作品《连续扩散事态》以一种诡谲、幽默和夸张的方式揭示出了社会信息的生产、传播与加速扩散的机制;而后,《界限:非展品的搁置》将关注点转向日常布展必经的流程,把即将被清理的物品搁置在展厅设定为作品,《美术:词与物的合法化在场》中将概念文本实体化介入到展览空间,《挪用商品画》又将观众对美术品的观看机制与由多位艺术家参与的展览场域进行对接。倪卫华的实践几乎代表着九十年代的中国艺术课题。

 

在今天,倪卫华依旧保持着对社会空间与场域问题的密切关注,从2008年开始,倪卫华使用充斥大街小巷的现成图像作为创作背景,他的《风景墙》录制了在房地产广告前行走的人群,使用社会生产消费自身的景观自证了其中暗藏社会隐痛的矛盾。在此基础上,倪卫华近期又将目光投射在大量的、具有不确定性的墙面痕迹上,这些痕迹有油漆印、未撕净的广告贴、手涂标语、粉刷遗迹、锈迹及霉斑等,它们被当做城市人意志的显象。倪卫华将这些痕迹作为逼促他进行创作的决定因素——是现场决定了艺术家在何处创作、如何创作。

 

本次展览《追痕:倪卫华户外现场展》将呈现倪卫华于松江工业园废墟发掘的一批痕迹的“追痕”视觉图像。“追痕”是倪卫华运用边缘描摹的反衬画法进行的艺术实验,倪卫华用黑色涂料将痕迹周围进行覆盖和涂抹,并似乎等待下一位涂抹者的介入,随后出现的涂痕或许又会被艺术家的黑色涂料吞噬从而形成新的“追痕”图像,这是一种针对城市的对话的游戏——在这种关系中,倪卫华犹如扮演着一个智能程序NPC,负责按照某种既定的机制来处理不断生成的城市符号。

 

开幕将以一种创造性的方式于户外(废弃工业园区)创作现场进行,展期自开幕日起延期至无限,这批作品创作于现场,并将永远性地保留在现场,直至墙面被拆毁。

 

In the early 1990s, Ni Weihua took the whole society as the experimental site and captured the hidden mechanisms of the field operation. This mechanism is ready-made to serve as the material for artistic practice. In 1992, the artwork Continuous Diffusion of Events revealed the mechanism of producing, spreading and accelerating diffusion of social information in a spooky, humorous and exaggerated way. Subsequently Boundaries: Shelving of Non-exhibits drew our attention to the inevitable process in daily exhibit and redefined the items that would be cleaned in the exhibition as artworks. Art: the legalization of words and objects bring the concept text materialized into the exhibition space. Misappropriation of Commodity Painting connected the viewing mechanism of the audience to the artists exhibition field participated by artists. Ni Weihua's practice almost represents the Chinese art subject in 1990s.

 

At present, Ni Weihua keeps paying close attention to social space and field problems. From 2008, Ni Weihua used ready-made images filled with streets and lanes as the background for his creation. Landscape Wall filmed the crowd walking in front of real-estate advertisement. It uses social production and consumption of landscape self-evidence the hidden pain of the contradictions. On this basis, Ni Weihua recently casts his eyes on a large number of uncertain wall traces. These traces include painted prints, untorn advertising stickers, hand-painted signs, painted relics, rust and mildew, etc. They are seen as subliminal images of urban citizens. Ni Weihua regarded these as the decisive factors to urge his creation. It is reality that determines where and how artists create art.

 

Tracing Series:Ni Weihua’s Art Exhibition Outside will present a visual image of traces excavated from an abandoned industrial park in SongJiang. "Tracing" is Ni Weihua's artistic experiment of using the contrast method of edge tracing. He covered and daubed the marks with black paint and seems to wait for the next applicator to step in. The subsequent scratch may be swallowed by the artist's black paint to create a new "tracking" image. It is a free-talk gathering for the city. In this relationship he plays the role of an NPC. Responsible for dealing with the constantly generated urban symbols in accordance with established mechanism.

 

The opening will take place at the outdoor (abandoned industrial park) creation site. The exhibition will be extended to infinity since the opening. These artworks are create on site and will remain there forever until the wall is torn down.
