旅澳著名艺术家张大我先生之长子,1971年出生。原名张帆,字远航,号半酣。英文名JIM。7歳启蒙,师从首都师范大学美术系教授黄金生夫妇学习西方绘画。在近10年的学习中,确立了素描、速写、色彩、构图等方面的坚实基础。初中后,考入北京工艺美术学校,系统学习了书法、国画及东西方美术基础知识。1989年旅居澳大利亚,并在塔斯马尼亚大学艺术系学习油画、版画、工艺饰品、陶瓷艺术、架上雕塑、城市雕塑等课程。毕业后从事设计工作。1999年回国,进一步学习、研究中国书法、篆刻及国画、水墨画。并在水墨抽象绘画探索中,进行了多种尝试。2005年,以职业画家身份居住北京,并任澳大利亚黑色艺术中心驻京办事处艺术总监。 Ban Han (Jim Dawson, alias Zhang Fan) Born in 1971, the elder son of the reputed transnational artist Zhang Dawo, Jim Dawson alias 张帆 (Zhang-to open, Fan-the sail) named by grandpa as 远航 (Yuan Hang - sail afar), prefers to be called 半酣 (Ban Han – half asleep) as an artist. Mentored from an early age in fine art by Prof. and Madam Huang Jin Sheng of Beijing Capital Teachers University, Jim developed the basic skills in sketching, watercolor and oil painting. His tertiary education commenced in Beijing Fine Art College absorbing the fundamental elements of east and west art including Chinese calligraphy and painting. In 1990 Jim found himself in the Faculty of Art, University of Tasmania, Australia, specializing oil painting, woodcraft, etching, pottery, sculpture and jewelry design. After spending a few years in designing, Ban Han returned to China in 1999, when he dwelt further in traditional Chinese art forms, including calligraphy, traditional landscape ink brush painting, seal cutting and modern calligraphy. From 2005 as a professional artist he engages his creativity in the abstract art of Shuimo (wash and ink). Jim is also the manager of the “Y” Black Art Studio in the Beijing internationally known art district of ‘798’.
