Sofie Alsbo

Sofie Alsbo (b. 1982, Denmark) uses sound, video and animation as tools to explore the pull between the internal and external space of body and mind. By directing the attention to the relationship between the human body and technology her work plays with understandings of consciousness, space and time. Working with imagery and sound from collected materials, mixed with personal recordings, she forms a flowing language of perception where familiarity and anticipation gets distorted and fragmented. Her work has been featured in exhibitions including The Surround Sound Artists Project, Art Basel Miami Beach; Right hand gives, the left takes away, Extrapool Nijmegen NL; Exchange Project and Creekside Open, A.P.T Gallery London; Spring Exhibition, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen; Future Map 10, 176 Zabludowicz Collection, London; Mary Mixtape Release, Gallery TTC, Copenhagen; Cut Up, netfilmmakers.dk. Alsbo has received an MA in 2015 from The Royal Academy of Arts, London and a BA (Hons.) Fine Art from Central St. Martins, UAL.
