Janice Hunter (Denmark)
Janice started her ceramics career at Madeley College of Education in
Staffordshire, England. After completing a B.E.D. at Keele University, she taught ceramics at the Wilfred Clarke Comprehensive School in Walsall. From the industrial midlands of England she moved to La Borne in rural France and worked as a production thrower. Now based in the north of Denmark, Janice has had her ceramic workshop and gallery for nearly 30 years in Tornby, a village near the west coast and the port of Hirtshals.
Janice is a member of the Danish Crafts Guild and is the foreman for the North Jutland group of the Guild. She also works together with a group of women called the Boerglum Babes who invite international guests to exhibit and hold workshops. Also a member of the Nordic Network Exchange, she has worked in Sweden and Norway and hosted guests from the northern Europe and Scandinavia.
Janice’s work now is focused on pursuing investigations into using porcelain and red clays in a sculptural context. Her firing techniques include wood and saggar firings.
