Art Museum of Beijing Art Academy holds a special exhibition of Qi Baishi’s art works named ”Grass and Mud in the Countryside ---- Qi Baishi’s Aquarium Interest” on 3th,Aug. The private collected exhibition is the fifth following another four special exhibitions about grass and insects, characters, landscapes and plum blossoms, orchids, bamboos, chrysanthemums and pines. Qi Baishi took aquarium, for instance, shrimp, crabs, fishes, frogs and tadpoles as his painting themes. These art works are the most important in painting history of the 20Century. Qi Baishi devoted his mind to aquarium with extraordinary wisdom and plenty sensibility. His painting presented the charm of pool, and shrimp mark became one of important field of Qi Baishi’s art. Blank spaces in ten thousand aquarium painting of Qi Baishi gave us limitless aesthetic space, in fact, what he painted just were little pool in the family. All is natural and solid. The special exhibition organized and analyzed his aquarium paintings according four kind: shrimp, crabs, fishes, frogs during 1919-1965 on the base of academic research. The exhibition presents the creation process of Qi Baishi’s aquarium paintings, and reveals evolvement course by another photos of paintings and documents.
