A solo art exhibition in Shanghai, turns its focus on the universal spirt of the ancient Chinese tradition. All the piece in the showing are the work of artist, Zhou Guozhen.
More than 120 works are showcased. The most eye-catching is this set consisting of a plate, a vase, and a bowl featuring dragon designs.
The set was created strictly in accordance with time-honored techniques used by imperial kilns. Zhou Guozhen, is a renowned ceramic artist from the Jingdezhen Porcelain Academy. He's also showing some of his latest ceramic sculptures.
According to Zhou, ceramics used to be a worldwide tradition before Chinese porcelain gained worldwide fame. Using porcelain as his medium, Zhou set out to present an ideal of universalism of fine arts.
The exhibition at the Shanghai Number One Gallery is open until the end of December. Over the weeks to come, two symposiums will be held, allowing spectators to interact with the artist.
