This "Lotus Plant" teapot by Lu Wen Xia is very true to life. The vessel resembles the root of the lotus plant, a water lily-like plant, right down to the honey-combed interior of the root, which is visible at the one end (we know what the inside of a lotus root looks like because we eat lotus root, here). The vines and lily pads make up the handle. So far, the one displayed here is only the second that she has made (the other having been sold by an exclusive New York gallery). While we always appreciate her work, we are particularly fond of this one for its life-like appearance as well as its refreshing and innovative theme.
