From the macro view of the universe, we might raise questions like the famous poets by QuYuan, or start from something simple: what is the first line in the world? Hanison LAU uses his poetic work Until the End of The World tell us the first line in the world is Horizon. The meeting point of the sky, sea and land, endless, boundless, expands to the end of the world. The surface of water, the evaporated time, a hand drawn line, and the wooden miniature of the mountains, are all metaphors of connections between the natures of the world. Horizon is forever.

Hanison LAU uses sculptural form to present his ideas; his 3-dimensional pieces speak some of his personal stories, presenting different visual elements with ready-made materials. He usually employs history and literature, especially adapted from Chinese culture as referential languages and properties to appropriate his works. He used sculpture and drawing to represent the poetic elements vested in contemporary visual art form, and his works demonstrate a strong record of personal action.

LAU is working as an independent artist and lecturer at the Hong Kong Art School. He received his Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT) in 2005 and received a Master Degree in Fine Arts at RMIT in 2007. He has been selected as one of the highlighted artists by the Hong Kong Art Promotion Office for its ‘Artists in Neighborhood scheme II 2008’. He took part in the Artist-in-Residence project in Portland, USA in 2008 and South Korea in 2010 and 2011. In the past few years, LAU has been exhibiting his works extensively in USA, Australia, mainland China and Hong Kong. His works has been collected locally and internationally.
