Li Xiaoke is a National First-class Artist, a research fellow of Central Research Institute of Culture and History, a director of China Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Painting Art Commission of China Artists Association, a member of China Artists Association and China Photographers Association, the director of the Art Commission of Beijing Fine Art Academy, the president of Li Keran Art Foundation and Huangshan Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, a member of the Art Appraisal Commission of Ministry of Culture, a director of Association of Tibetan Culture Preservation and Development, China, a director of Chinese Painting Institute, and a vice-president of the Landscape Painting Society of China Artists Association.

Influenced by his family, Li Xiaoke has had the love for Chinese painting since he was young. He started taking care of his father Li Keran and helping him work on painting in the 1970’s. He also started studying Chinese landscape painting under his father’s instructions. Throughout the 1980s, Li traveled extensively across China to sketch, photograph and seek inspiration from the surroundings. He made over twenty visits to Tibet, Qinghai Province, the headwaters of Yantze River and the Yallow River ,Gansu Province ,as well as other Tibetan-inhabited regions in western China. In recent years, Li has traveled to Mount Huang, Mount Taihang and Yanshan mountains to sketch the native landscapes. When creating painting, Li not only carries on the tradition of Chinese painting and the spirit of his father’s art, but also embraces elements of western art with an open mind. His unique artistic style displayed in his ink art reflects his passion for life and the surrounding world in which he searches for his personal artistic languages, and the notion that expressions are built upon lived-experience. Beijing, the ancient capital, Tibet and Mount Huang become the three main constituents of the “Soulful Homeland of Ink-Wash” Series. Li’s work display his distinctive artistic languages and have received widespread acclaim beyond his home and abroad.
