我偏爱自然风光,那丰富的视觉形象资源,千姿百态,风情 万种;
Song Yuan Wen
Song Yuan Wen (1933- ), born in Dalian, Liaoning After graduating from the Central Academy of Fine Arts Song remained at the Academy to teach, eventually being appointed to the post of Head of the Printmaking Department and Professor.
Song successively held the posts of Secretary-General of the Chinese Printmaker’s Association, Deputy-Chair of Party Affairs and in 1999 he began the appointment of Head of the Chinese Artist’s Association Printmaking Committee.
Words of the Artist
I prefer natural scenery, preferring that natural resource of rich visual imagery, thousands of impressions in hundreds of poses, tens of thousands of different feelings; I am particularly fond of the landscape of northern China, those districts with their distinctive character, those that have experienced a tough history, forging the spirit of humanism which gave me a cultural platform to give vent to my innermost feelings.
Depending on my individual selfenlightenment and the myriad experiences of life, as if all can be found reflected within nature. From within a natural life one may reflect the life of society, one can not only present the enjoyment of visual images, but one can also bring introspection to the connotations of society from a different perspective, achieving a state of grafting emotion onto landscape, mingling artistic boundaries.
Qualities suggestive of poetry and painting are China’s traditional aesthetic in the upholding of artistic boundaries. Even today I still consider that poetic sentiment and pictorial means is genuinely a lofty boundary in creating art for the purpose of life.
Awards
The Ninth Bradford International Print Biennale Prize, 1986.
Collections
