∞
In Western culture the sideways 8 symbolizes endlessness.
In Chinese culture number 8 represents good fortune.
∞ has no beginning or end. The large size, 840 x 80 cm, drawing can be hung up on the wall from both sides, since it shows the ’hand-drawn’ lace pattern on its front and reverse side.
One half is unrolled; the other stays hidden, rolled up like a carpet.
Veiling half of the object piques curiosity, which enhances attention, which is a rule of perception and – attraction: a clever woman, for example, should not reveal too much if she wants to secure her admirer’s interest; and even once she decides to unveil, an ongoing love only thrives through continuous devotion from both sides...
∞
